Can you capture the whole market? The answer is "no". There is no way anyone can capture the whole market share.

There are some groups of prospect who will never be interested in your product. Trying to convince these groups will cost you thousand and thousand of marketing dollars. And the result? A big fat zero.

Here is an example: A beauty salon that helps female to look beautiful plans a marketing strategy. They hire somebody to give away brochures at a high traffic area.

The owner told that person to give brochure to everyone. He is an obedient person gave to everyone including children and male prospects. Big Mistake!

Now, will the children and the man respond to the brochures? Absolutely not! A mistake made by the owner, and it cost thousand of marketing dollar.

You may thought "hey, this is an extreme case." Oh yes it is. The truth is I've been receiving beauty salon brochures targetted for women. And I'm a man. This is happening out there. Companies are throwing away money. I hope this does not happen to your business.







Let's approach something more realistic. For example, the same beauty salon realized their mistake. They change their marketing strategy. "Hand the brochures to females only". Still, it did not met expected response rate. What is going on? What went wrong?

Come on, not all females need to beautify themselves. Some women have the gift from God. They do not need beauty salon services at all. The owner should pinpoint those who needs it and want to do something about it.

Think about health food. Everybody needs it, but not everybody wants it. Only people who are health conscious will love it. The owner of the health food business should identify where are all the health conscious people, and start from there.
